There has been a rise in demand for one-off and custom heatsink/optics holders recently.
I have decided to do a RUN of these.
The optics holder/heatsink will be designed for a 1" ID, LEDEngin LED and 5 - 10 degree lens. The 5 degree is most suited to the thin-neck LUKE or OBI. They will have 6 holes through the heatsink for wires.
I will need a minimum of TEN to begin the run. I will do up to 20 in the run if necessary. I am doing these "by hand", but I hope to get them all done before Christmas.
Price for the 1" Optics Holder / Heatsink will be $40
Shipping is $6.95 in the U.S. for up to 5 sets.
This represents both the machine time (lathe and mill) and materials cost.
50% down payment to reserve your spot in the run. I will not be taking money until we hit the minimum of 10, or we hit the 20 run limit. The run will be open at least ONE WEEK.
So, if you are in need of such an optics holder / heatsink, send me a PM so you can get your name on the list.
Here is a thumbnail of a cellphone camera shot from the two prototypes I made:
The heatsinks are meant to be retained by a setscrew through the grenade/ribbed&grooved section.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the two that are pictured are mine for my SF Obi and Luke. Very cool stuff. Anyone that has one of these or any other saber that need something like this should definitely jump in!

These look great arkhan. I might be hitting you up for a pair if i don't decide to try my hand at some myself. One thing i wanted to mention. The 5 degree lens does not work better in a thin neck saber in my experience. I had one in my mkvi initially and was really puzzled by how dim it was even compared to what i expected. I switched to a 10 degree (8.7 was equally good) and the brightness/ evenness almost doubled. Seems backward, but the light transmission of the 5 degree lenses is terrible in comparison.
These heat sinks allow you to move your led from up in the emitter to down into the ribbed section of the saber, allowing you to run a larger LED, specifically the LEDEngin 10w. Otherwise that star is too big to fit in the emitter. So if you want to do a saber with aux flash or want a mixed color like purple for the main blade then this works well.
This RUN has fizzled out due to lack of interest. However, I do have some stock on hand and am willing to make these on a "one-off" basis at the RUN price, until I run out of stock. I can make 3-4 of them before I reach that point.
