Welcome to the V5 Upgrade of the Imperial Royal Arms forum!
With the upgrade there will probably be things that need worked on or glitches that you find. I am going to make another topic in "Forum Helps" for y'all to post your findings. Please read what has already been posted before you post so that we can keep things organized. This will make it easier for us to better assist and fix the problems. Should there be big problems such as with your account, contact me directly by PM and I will get to it right away.
With the upgrade you will need to fully log in again as your passwords will not be remembered in the switch. Once you are logged in you will still be able to select for the forum to remember you so you don't have to log in every time. There will be new features throughout the forum to enhance you experience here at the IRA.
We really hope that you enjoy this upgrade! Thank you and God bless!!

Corey, is there any to open up the mod section so we don't need to log in. There should be a key that has certain sections of the forum only open to those you accept. You'd simply enter the usernames into that section. On fx the admin section was always visible to mods. You never had to click anything and even in "new posts" the mods would see mod only posts mixed in with posts everyone saw. It's a very nice feature if we have it.
The new layout looks great! I like integrated chat and like what I'm seeing so far. However, I cannot for the life of me find the newthreads button, is it gone? That is super useful and I really want it back. I don't like navigating through all the folders everytime to see the new stuff.

There is a "Recent Posts" and a "Recent Threads" button at the bottom of the page that does the same thing that the old one did. Though now when you want to reply you have to click on the header of the post first.
I also see we have a "Luke" button. Or at least it SHOULD be. We need to edit that graphic. Lol.

I just noticed that our post profile area doesn't show if we are online. I often use that as I surf threads. Now it appears the only way to see who's online is to continually scroll to the bottom. I also like having a list of members for the day. It was encouraging to see the activity and it will encourage newer members to see that we average 90 members logging in each day.
These aren't critical items but just nice things to have.

Another way to see recent posts is to hold you mouse over the Imperial Royal Arms tab. It will then have another little window open up showing all the forums content. Hold over those and it will show you all the topics and will have a "new" tab next to the topics that have recently been posted in.

just noticed something the page numbers for going to the next page of a thread are at the top so after you are done reading the page you have to scroll allthe way back to the top to change to page 2 etc.. it should be at the bottom so when your done with that page you can click on the next page at the bottom instead of having to go all the way back up to the top again
Caz, they're at the top but they don't scroll off the screen. In other words, you do not have to scroll back up to access them. It's a separate bar that stays at the top of the screen no matter how far you scroll down.
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?

ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"
Jun 23, 2017 16:24:16 GMT -5
ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:30 GMT -5
ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:53 GMT -5
ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:16 GMT -5
profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
