Which end area dungeon did you get into? I was under the impression they were all closed off. I managed to get down into the Hellmouth on the Moon while that was open, but never got to the actual end as it was closed off. Are you talking the Strikes? If so, I jumped in to other games all the time in the Beta and never talked with anyone outside my friends, never had an issue. Also, ran the Devil's Lair MANY times with mixed characters, saw very few Titans, and beat the Strike with teams comprised of Hunters and/or Warlocks alone
I also played all 3 characters, which was my goal. In the end I'm on Xbox One with a Warlock as my primary character. The Titan felt too much like a slower version of the Spartans from Halo, I just couldn't do it. The Hunter, while a close second for me, just didn't grab me like my Warlock did. That Nova Bomb is just so good......
Bungie has some kind of announcement today, any guesses as to what it is?
The countdown is on, Gamestop is doing a midnight release, I'll be there to pick up my Ghost Edition, and then it is game on
I'll be picking up my XBOX ONE Ghost Edition as well ! I will be runni g a Titan to start as I have been looking at there subclasses in depth. They realy are about defense & hardcore offense I have a team too. 2 of each class totaling 6 of us. It's gonna be epic!
Anyone thinking of getting a Xbox One in the US, there is a promotion running from the 7th to the 13th, buy a X1 get a free game. It has to be a physical game disk BUT that should work for Destiny as that is the release timeframe
XB1 !!! The game will be running at 1080p also! If you get it on XB1 you'll have a couple of us to hang with too.
cool, are you all in the states,as being in Ireland the time difference is always hard to match up times but yeah might just move the deposit over to xb1 (only prob i have with xbox over ps3 is having to pay to play online after paying so much for the consoles)
LOL.... It looks Halo-ish because it is! It's made by Bungie who made halo... of course it will look similar. But I wouldn't worry too much. There will be plenty to do for everyone in this game.
I still think people don't realize that this game is changing video games forever! If you really look at what will be IN this game and all that you will be able to do... Then compare it to anything else, You will realize that this game is no push over. This game is unlike anything ever made! I cannot wait !
the game is meant to be Co-Op HOWEVER I ran all of the Beta 'story' missions on my own, as well as with friends, so I say yes the Campaign is there if you want to be a lone wolf. Every aspect of the game is designed for cooperative play; story, raid, strike, crucible (pvp).
I have a feeling a lot of my time will be spent exploring and leveling, alone as well as with friends.
It's about 7 am, so 17 hours or so until I get to play........
So how many hours of gameplay are we talking here in story mode? Is it anything like CoD where it was pretty much non-existent and very, very short or was it immersive offering a good number of gameplay hours?
I honestly don't know. I can tell you the replay value is there. I think Old Russia had 4 or 5 actual 'story' missions and the Moon had 3 or 4 story missions. The Moon was brief as it was only available for a few hours, so I played the story fast and then explored. The Hell Mouth was MASSIVE and I didn't get through the whole thing as a good portion was closed off for the Strike mission that we didn't get access to.
I ran the Devil's Lair strike more times than I can count and every time it played out different because of the group I would get paired up with.
Also, after you run the story missions you can go back to the tower and get bounties from the bounty board which encourages you to go back out and explore. Once you go to explore, you pick up beacons that are like mini missions, so you can run those. While you are running around exploring you will trip over public events where any number of people can jump in, those are massively fun as they are random and just pop up and players just jump in to help then go their separate ways. This was the majority of my time in the beta and it kept me quite entertained the entire time. Also, this was, for the most part, just Old Russia on Earth, we will have the Moon, Mars, and Venus to go and do the same things on, so the 'story' is quite massive.
I know while I was off exploring I kept running in to people all over the place and I found myself jumping in to help them and once finished continuing on my way. Remember, the world should almost always have people running around, so you can always find something to do without looking real hard. Best thing is there is no 'local chat' so you don't have to talk to anyone unless you invite them to a chat, so no chatter from obnoxious people just all of a sudden blaring in your headset or out of your tv.
So there is tons to do, and I didn't even touch on the actual pvp stuff yet.
no worries, my best advice for you is go in with an open mind. Don't stereotype the game before you get going. I loved the Bungie Halo games and felt that Destiny really had the same play characteristics that Halo did, so I fell right in to an immediate comfort zone.
I'll be on for a bit tonight and then probably all day tomorrow - lgtsbr16 on Xbone

ZahcStarKiller: Yeah I have to agree. I just happened to stumble across spot #1 on the orbital machining Obi TPM run and had the opportunity to purchase it. That is pretty darn close to happiness.
