I'm getting the feeling that some people may think an IRA admin/mod would choose one soundboard over the other due to some sort of financial gain. If so, this would only apply to the IRA mods/admins that are also trusted NEC installers. Trusted NEC installers get a small discount on NEC products. No kickbacks, none of the proceeds of a saber sale with an NEC soundboard in it go back to Naigon, there's just a small discount on the sales of NEC products to the trusted installers. The only IRA mods/admins that are trusted NEC installers are Corran Horn and IndustrialAction. Just like not all IRA mods and admins are trusted installers, not all trusted NEC installers are IRA mods/admins. This of course means that for those IRA mods and admins that are NOT trusted NEC installers (like myself), we have to pay the same amount as the general public.
It does not matter that a person might choose one board over the other due to the price of the board. Most everyone here does that all the time. A cheaper board means less money spent on building a saber which means more money to spend on more important things like food and shelter. A person might choose one board over another because that person thinks that a saber that with a specific soundboard in it will sell quicker and/or for a higher price when compared to another soundboard and so choose the soundboard that they think will net them more money in the end. Again, there's nothing wrong with that. People gotta eat.
There ARE reasons beside financial ones, for a person to promote only one board over another, some are good, some are justified and some are bad. There's no logical reason to automatically assume that when one does this, that the reasons are bad. However us humans are not known for letting logic rule our decision making, lol. Now as for the justifiable reasons, they may only be justifiable to a specific person or persons and not everyone. Some of those reasons cannot be discussed in public or get back to other people as it can cause friction within the community. This is where we need to remain silent. Welcome to the world of saber politics. It's sad that we have politics in this hobby/business but we do and they will NEVER go away as long as even just one person makes money from it.
Now, let's say you know that a person may be biased based on a business relationship with another forum member and then that person gives positive feedback on that product when customer utilizes it. I see nothing wrong with that. Why would that person not promote it? If they're involved in the business aspect of it, it would not make sense to NOT promote it (yeah that's a double negative, so what, LOL). It would also not technically be "good business" to promote the competition but there's nothing wrong with it on a "good person" level and we see it here all the time because we have good people here. On the flip side, one should not slam or leave negative feedback about the competition (even if it's true) and claim that by doing so, it's just "good business" or make up lies about the competition to stifle their business. Negative feedback for a purchase is different but should be avoided when it's regarding a competing product. For example, if I made and sold my own version of raisin bran cereal and then tried Kellogg's version but did not like it, I should probably keep my mouth shut about it.
Also, let's say you have friends here *gasp*. You might want to keep them as friends and as such, might have to back them up on decisions related to this forum, that you would have handled differently or might have to keep silent on something they made that you don't think is cool, simply to keep the peace. This also applies to business partners. One might have to go along with the other, even if they disagree on how to proceed, simply to keep their relationship stable. It all depends on the specific individual as to how honest you can be with them. That's another aspect of Saber Politics. We can't always tell it like it is (or at least how we THINK it is) as it can cause a lot of friction. It does not matter that things shouldn't have to be this way, they are this way because we humans are, in general, an illogical, irrational species with fragile egos that are ruled mainly by our emotions. I do not say this to insult the human race and therefore myself. I say this to simply state my own personal observations from my life experiences. Obviously, everyone is different and as such, will respond to things in different varying levels. Regardless, no matter how level-headed or logical a person may be, that does not apply to everyone and we cannot cater to just the level-headed among us.
First of all, is it wrong that with my blurry vision this thread title looks like it says "Help us Growl"? LOL I have seen many different products being offered here unlike some other forums and I see it as a chance to learn about other options for my customers as well as offer suggestions to the manufacturers that would help their product line become better. No matter what the product is, different manufactures will have both advantages and disadvantages over the other one. This is a place where we can make lightsabers and other props become better and this is due to input to and from each other. Just look at where we were just a few years ago as far as technology and how much it has changed. I was mostly offline for the past few years due to health issues and when I came back it was like I had to learn everything all over again because of the upgrades in soundboards, features of the soundboards, LED technology, battery capacity and many other things. All of this would not have happened if the people who make the products don't get any input from the end users. That being said, if I have some input that would "stir the pot" if it was posted in a thread, I would PM the person and offer my suggestion or opinion. That way you are still giving your honest opinion with out it looking like you were being negative about the product.
Bingo!!! You sumed uo better of what i was trying to say as far as manufaturers commenting on others products. We do not want the forum to be all about one group of people. Everyone has their favorites but there is no reason why they cant all be part of the same forum. All it does is help in exsposure and growth of ideas and helos people to learn wheather they are learning as a colletor or looking to be the next builder. The community as a whole benifits from it. Cant see anything bad there. We just have to make sure we respect eachother and eachothers works. We all work very hard on what we build and there is always something possitive to be found in every product.
Also, i am sorry for the ads at the top of the forum. It costs me $8 each time to remove ads and I typically do it about 4 to 5 times a month. $8 pays for 50, 000 ad free page views. Sometimes the page views are used up just a few days before the end of the month and I have them set to atomatically remove the first of the month. If i bought more tine right now i would just be wasting money as when they renew it closes out what ever is left from last month. So they dont roll over which sucks but that is how it is. So they will be gone in a few days if yall can just deal with them and ignore them till then. Thanks and I am sorry for any inconvience this may cause. If its too much of a trouble or makes peoples loading time take longer then i can gi ahead and take them off now. Just PM me to let me if your computer has a hard time with the ads.

oh, I am just professing my adoration to my Brochocho. Bats eyelashes at OBI.. then tosses white hanky into the wind, Obi catches it and inhales my intoxicating perfume from it and then tucks it in sleeve cuff....
Well, I for one really do not like the ads. I think it makes the forum look unprofessional and ugly. So I will continue to remove them. It typically costs around 32 to 38 a month for the ad removal. Just want to make sure that people get the best experience with this forum when they come here. So I don't mind doing it. There is however at thw bottom of the forum where people can help with this if they want too. I am not asking anyone to do so but I am not stupid and won't turn help down either. But l dont mind taking care of the ads when i can.
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?
Jun 23, 2017 15:50:15 GMT -5
ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"
Jun 23, 2017 16:24:16 GMT -5
ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:30 GMT -5
ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:53 GMT -5
ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.
Jun 23, 2017 16:27:10 GMT -5
profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:16 GMT -5
profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
