Finally im starting to work on a costume to go with my epic pariah saber from GG I got months ago (been working a lot so I havent played with it much )
Anywho its based off this design (semi loosely)
Please bear in mind I A)have never done sewing till now and am only getting guidance from my mum B)still working on my armor making techniques so im trying to keep em simple (for now)
Main materials for the costume are pleather and double pointe cotton ive complete d the material parts on both vambraces
And partially armored 1 (others armor is complete just gotta buy some more velcro to attach with)
Theme im going with is a jedi tracker/ranger/scout one who isnt really part of the order an outsider (pariah means outcast pretty much, but since theres already a famous saber called that thats based on that theme and GG slightly altered it to mean different when he did my saber I decided to go with that) the saber itself to me gives off a kind if royal/nobel feel with emitter (and my custom dedigned an printed blade plug) soo I decided to give my chara some fancy armor.
Blade colour is undecided, I wanted to do a gold, but cant get one I like...I have a bright sky blue I like and a nice bright eletric grern\veridian.
Saber is gonna sit horizontally on a holster on the back of my belt I think.
Boots came in a while ago, EP2 OBI i think~
and finished belt today!!!
soooo heres everything ive got so far
(yes saber was at that angle to conceal my custom blade plug~;Dpics of that will come when i get my stand)
again please note i have zero sowing experience and am learning as i go so quality wont be a 10 lol
now i just gotta figure how im gonna do chest armor~
@bentley: yeah I know xD I may sneak in a ufo in a later dodgy photo
@ gwynn: yes I am ^^ everything you see is being sewn by me (bar the stitches attaching the shirt collar, my mum did those) only things I bought were buttons and d rings and boots (I COULD have forged them but I was too lazy to learn xD) mums been giving me a lotta guidance though as I learn to sew, and helped me modify the patterns I bought (I accidentally bought all xxl patterns ^^; ) and thanks for the compliment ^^ watching your build inspires me to try some prosthetics when the costumes finished ^^

This is coming together nicely! I've been considering putting together a costume of my own so this is quite inspiring. I too was considering an alternative way to carry a lightsaber hilt and came up with something almost the same, it was a LARP dagger sheath with buckles that was meant to be worn on the back of a belt. Keep up the good work Xene! Love your Pariah saber as well
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?

ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"

ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.

ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."

ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.

profezzorn: so what do you use?

ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
