Hey crew, wanted to let you all know about a one-off custom that Arkhan and I are finishing up. It is based on a concept of a 27 x 320mm shell from a 'Flak Gun' such as the ones seen aboard the Invisible Hand during the 'Battle of Coruscant'. Similar projectile weapons were used by the Clone Army. The story behind it in my mind is that of a youngling hiding on Felucia when Order 66 is given. She recovers Aayla Secura's broken saber and rebuilds it using the shell casing.
A picture of the (almost) completed saber can be seen on my Facebook page (link in my signature). Once I get it, I'll post here too.
If you want to commission the saber for delivery by Thanksgiving, PM me. You'll get to pick your AV switch colors (which are set in a Solo's Hold black carbonate switch box) and the config. You'll also get to pick the stone color for the knurled brass kill key. Saber will be installed with an Igniter and a Z6. It has a native 7/8" blade socket and will come with a SabreBlade to fit. It will also come in a custom display box.
This is a complete one-off so if you're interested, message me ASAP.
I can't wait to see this saber finished up and into the hands of its owner. There are a number of unique features in this saber, including hilt dimples, hefty brass main-body and bullet-style blade plug.
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?

ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"

ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.

ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."

ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.

profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
