Today the IRA just had our 1000th member join.
I've been watching this closely knowing this was going to be the weekend. It looks like we have our own little Memorial Day for the IRA.
I never dreamed that this day would come. I never thought we'd get past the 500 mark. Heck, I can remember when our hitting 100 was a huge milestone. I've said this before but I will repeat it. When this site was created, it was never our intention to be the largest most active saber site. Our desire was to be the best. We wanted a site that was inclusive of everyone. We wanted a site where everyone felt welcome and each member took a little ownership of the site. We wanted our members to know that everyone from admin, mods down to our 1000th member would be treated equally and fairly.
A couple of weeks ago, I was going through site business and was evaluating if we needed to add some mods to help run the site. As I took a long hard look at the site I was once again encouraged to see that for the most part, our members just mod themselves. Our moderation team has very little work to do because you all do it for us by following the rules and treating each other like a family.
I would like to take this moment to say thank you to all of our members. Thank you for making our job of running this site easier. Thank you for treating each other with respect. Thank you for working problems out with each other without the need for us to get involved. You're all a great group of members and I'm happy and proud to have each and everyone of you here.
THANK YOU I.R.A MEMBERS!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON HITTING THE 1000 MEMBER MARK.

Honestly, this place is the best online community I've ever been a part of. I've said it before to a couple members, but I go to the TCSS forums to give advice, help out, I go to FX to see product releases and sales, and I go here for both reasons listed above and to just pal around. I don't have that on the other forums. And it isn't to say that I don't have friends on the other boards, I just find the atmosphere here so much more inviting and casual. Coming here is honestly a relaxing and therapeutic experience almost everyday.
Also we're the funniest forum out there, especially considering the G rating. Mostly because of ARKM, but some other users can occasionally be clever.
All the sweet guys I know are from this forum, maybe 1 or 2 from another forum but I am solely here because its a far more relaxed, sweeter place to be and here its politics free. A line loosely borrowed from Tony Stark, other place may have an army of members. Here, we have ARKM!
Congrats to darthbean...& thanks to all who make this site happen It's my first time as a forum member on any site...& am having a blast Have "met" some amazing people here...& learned so much as a newbie Saber collector / hobbiest / installer Am working on building a nice collection of hilts too...lol (tho some of u talented bastards are costing me a fortune with the gorgeous hilts u offer for sale....& of course I can't say no....hahaha)
U know...tradition in the Aussie military...if u get promoted or are the subject of a significant event...u buy a round for the bar ? 😜 So in that spirit...as the magic #1000...doesn't darthbean need to start lining up 999 "Blue Milks" for the rest of us ?? Hahaha

You Aussie's are awfully nice, US Navy tradition involves pinning the new rank to the guy's arm and then everyone punching it to dig the pins in. Appropriately referred to as "pinning" or "getting pinned". Another great tradition is when a guy gets transferred to a new duty station, on his last day he gets attacked by the entire division in a royal rumble beat down.
The only time we buy drinks is when someone's wife leaves him, or one more will make him puke.
GK45: Prolly for the best, my Wisdom Tooth has decided it doesn't like my mouth and has begun seceding little by little and I can't get it pulled for another month yet so sugar isn't my best friend right now...not that it is stopping me.
