- Knight tier: All-in-1 chassis for a functional install, with detailed rear section. No Crystal Chamber reveal (chassis locked) but still possible to add an RGB led in the clamp section (with simulated CC small details visible through the clamp holes). Battery options are: 1x18650 3.7v, 2x18500 7.4v Will be available for CF7.5, PC3.5, PRIZM, I2, Spark Color 2, Spark2
- Padawan tier: Light chassis for budget install, without any cosmetic. Battery options are: 1x18650 3.7v Will be available for NB3 (or NB2)

So the first chassis design for Solo's Hold Luke V2 is almost completed and will be printed soon for prototyping. Check out the renders
There must be about 600 design features on this current model... and that's not counting the Crystal Chamber. I let you guess the time I've spent on it Plus, not only it looks good, but we've also working A LOT with Obi Shane and Solo's Hold to carefully plan this install.
--------------------------- Details: For now, the chassis will hold the following components - Plecter Labs CF7.5 - Recharge Port - Rice Port - 28mm Speaker - 2 x 3mm accent led - 2 x tactile switches - Crystal Chamber (to be shown laler, wait for it) - 18650 battery - 8 x 1.75mm brass rods (cometic) - é x 4-40 threaded rods (assembly)
Other install possibilities: You can still add a CEx satelite board if you want (there is a dedicated space for that), and use a 2x18350 7.4v battery pack instead of the single 18650 (with a negative impact on run time obviously). If you want color mixing and still have better run time, We'll have the knight tier compatible with a 2x18500 battery pack as already described in the first post.
I'll also design a different board cover over the main chassis if you'd like to install a 7 SMD leds bargraph with your CF ^^
Reveal: After long discussion and planning, the last choice we've taken is not to do a fully removable core. While being a "fancy" idea on paper, there is no real advantage on doing so for this hilt (on the contrary actually). Instead, you'll be able to slide the chassis out from the back to reveal the chamber, while still being able to have the main led working. The chassis will use a rail that will secure the reveal and prevent twisting or wires to be stressed.

LordBlako I have to test that on the prototype, not a big fan of press fit as the printing accuracy can make it a bit hard to achieve properly (especially with shapeways Black Strong & Flex plastic). I was more think about a tiny tiny drop of super glue to secure each rods.

This is great. Question...can the pommel be presented with the saber in reveal mode meaning how will the pomnel/grip hold the saber during reveal?
Forgot to answer that one. There is no particular hold for the pommel when unscrewed. I'd say that if you want to reveal only the CC on a display stand, you can put the pommel back to rest on the chassis section.

Alright, lemme show you some more progress ^^ (but no major surprise tho...).
Here is the Jedi tier - All-in-1 CF7.5 chassis: - about the same back section as the Master Tier (the only part revealed on this version). - same version can hold either a 2x18500 7.4v pack or a single 3.7v 18650 - still a small space available for a crystal with 5mm accent led (visible through clamp holes)

I received the first chassis prototype last week, it look very nice (and small) and I'll show pictures as soon as have te time to take them ^^
I had some points to modify here and there to improve it, so I'm cooking a new version to order very soon. The good point is that I received the switches from Obi-Shane today and the solution we've chosen looks valid so far ^^ Next step will be testing with the actual hilt prototype!
The Crystal Chamber is also progressing well (I'm currently on the stage of trying to keep the cost down... I had some crazy Shapeways prices with the first verion, pity), hopefully I can show that by end of the week! I really hope you guys will like the direction I have taken with this one
