I do have a theory that came to me today.
It is now Disney in charge and it's following a theme of all things Disney these days. And it's this. These films are made to appeal to the wizards of waverly place and I Carly generation and it worked. TFA had it all, the cute funny girl lead, the silly guys acting a bit dim and the kiddie jokes,
Pretty much all the parts covered in tangled, Home, frozen and numerous other Disney films.
They played it right and brought in a whole new generation of SW fans appealing to the mindless gloop kids watch these days and that's the reason they ripped off the original story from ep4, kids are use to watching the same plot time after time on everything anyway so wouldn't even notice it.
Did I like the film? I liked some of it, Boyega and Ridleys on screen chemistry was great, the action was good, it's Abrams after all, the special effects were ok.
But I think it could of been better if the cut scenes were left in, as what I've seen I think would've given the film more depth, but it's Disney, depth is not a good thing, people shouldn't think to deeply about the plot or a scene.
But I stand by what I said originally, it looks like it's got cheap made for tv movie sets, and I have seen this before because just putting the wrong filter on the camera will cause it to look that way.
The 3rd Harry potter film had a darker filter than the first 2 films and it looked wrong from the start, it takes about 15 mins to get use to it, people must of complained as it went back to the normal filter for the rest of the series.
But hey, maybe I just pickup on things like that more easily.
Yes!! Thank you!! I've said this about Disney for years. They just make the same princess movie over and over. Everyone went crazy over Frozen and I still don't understand why. It was just like every other one they made.
