On Facebook I'm part of a custom sabers page, and this user who plays guitar for Blue Oyster Cult came up with a Brian May (guitarist from Queen) sound font he dubbed the "Red Special" for his Mace Windu lightsaber. This inspired me to build a lightsaber combining 2 loves of mine. Guitar and lightsabers. =)
So the idea was.........what if Eddie Van Halen was a Jedi in the Star Wars universe. What would his saber look like? What would it sound like? What color would the blade be? So this is what I came up with.
The saber has a Nano Biscotte V3 Soundboard with a Blue LED and White Flash on Clash. One sound font is from Nova Star called "Episode V Ice Planet Assault" and the sound font demonstrated in the video is a sound font I put together to better fit the Eddie Van Halen meets Star Wars Theme.
Hilt was painted by Shaun Redman at Redman Customs here in Memphis.
Hopefully I don't get too much heat for painting a Korbanth Graflex 2.0, but I had a vision in mind and this vision came true and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
For the record, I WOULD NEVER PAINT A REAL GRAFLEX FLASH GUN. =)

ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.

ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."

ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?

ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.

profezzorn: so what do you use?

ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
