For anyone that's just joining us, the main disappointment of the day is the fact that no blade holder currently made will align correctly in the RE Graflex. The holes beside the glass eye are not in the same place as an original.

My SH blade holders arrive tomorrow. Now I don't have anything to put them in. Well, until March I guess. That's when TGS says theirs should be shipping. I picked up a few for myself and some customers and I'm really hoping they nailed it. They've added a lot of little extras that make it even more appealing.
And, not to pour gasoline on the fire, which I have a tendency to do, but I was at the very end of that list. When I placed that order, he made a comment like, "hey, you just made it, I only had a few left for preorder"
So, the fact that 2-3 hours after I emailed him, I got a shipping notice, was kind of like a statement without making one, yes. Whatever. I'll just try to sell it when I get it like everyone else, I guess.
Don't think that Roman would be at a total loss if he accepted returns either. Remember, there's still people who simply want a static prop and have no need for electronics he could sell to. There's the crowd, albeit a small crowd, that might want or need a working flash gun. And lastly, if someone makes a new blade adapter specifically for the RE Graflex, be it NerfworX or Khal or TGS (which would be hilarious), then Roman is in the clear.

If he takes these back he can still sell them to the RPF people. They build static props mostly and think what we do makes them toys. Plus, there are tons of people over there defending him and saying these are great. Well, they can have mine.

I just read some posts on the Roman's run thread. I had to literally bite my tongue and close the tab. The nerve of them to bash us as "toy builders'' because we like to place electronics in hilts... Wow. I dare say that; 1: Lighting a Lightsaber hilt makes it more accurate to the film, and 2: None of the people making such statement are likely to have an OUNCE of the skill necessary to wire and install a hilt properly.
Not to mention, anyone that pays money in expectation of a product, only to find out that the product was not made as accurately as was promised, has the right to be irritated and criticize the product. That's one of the risks of doing business. I don't think Roman should have gone through Chinese manufacturers, but I won't assert my opinion here.
I just had to say all that because that thread got me really ticked off.

Just got wind of this through a buddy and boy am I bummed. I have all the parts needed to build out a Ryo CC with the SH BH and have the Romans Graflex in hand and now I can't even use it. Sent him an email about concern but we shall see. I don't want to use my vintage at all so trying to weigh my options for a build. I'm not so worried about reselling this if have to but I would need to replace it because like I said I have everything needed to install a CC so all that would take some effort and money loss to liquidate. CRAP!!!! I will be paying close attention to threads here and on the RPF for updates....
Right now everyone is working hard to verify that the TGS Graflex is compatible with SH blade holders and others. Once we know, that's most likely where everyone will be focusing their attention. There have been rumblings about KR Sabers making a Roman compatible blade holder or maybe even SH. Right now it's wait and see on that. I'd hold off until the TGS update and go from there. If the TGS works and looks pretty good then you'll just need to pick one of those up and sell the Roman.

Aw I love when the static prop guys talk about "toys"! Especially the ones who made a tfa Graflex conversion.
(Psst...tfa props had electronics in them )
I said the same thing on the RPF so they said the movie sucked and they only used our "toys" in the forest scene. Whatever, I ain't shook. I don't even care anymore. Let them call them toys. A static prop wouldn't have made Grayson anywhere near as happy as our "toy" that spoke to him.
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?
Jun 23, 2017 15:50:15 GMT -5
ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"
Jun 23, 2017 16:24:16 GMT -5
ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:30 GMT -5
ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."
Jun 23, 2017 16:26:53 GMT -5
ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.
Jun 23, 2017 16:27:10 GMT -5
profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:16 GMT -5
profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
