Hey all, I just scored an MR Anakin AOTC FX Lightsaber on eBay for $145, yes $145! This is my unicorn saber, and I want to get it converted, but haven't seen to many of these converted around. I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation or wants to step-up. For this guy, I'm aiming for a full conversion, not just LED swap. And get those red/green accent led's illuminated!
Well, my suggestion is a bit leftfield, so take it just as a suggestion, LOL!
If your MR Ani AOTC works, keep it that way. It's an interesting piece of FX sabering history, with all its flaws and edges. I used to have one of these too, acquired it with a broken blade but then had it converted to EL blade, since I wanted to preserve it as "true to original" as possible. Even though it was rubbish, I still loved it, since it reminded me how far we have advanced in saber tech nowadays.
With the money you'll save on conversion, get a custom made 1:1 Ani AOTC hilt, maybe a TridCloudWalker. Then you see how grossly oversized the MR version is, and after the electronics install it's going to feel more unicorn to you, than the massive MR.
On the other hand, if you can live with the hilt's size or the stock electronics don't work, then by all means go for it. $145 sounds like a bargain anyway, so there's not much to lose in collectible value either.
Just my $0.02, at today's rate that's just 0.019€!
"It's not very good, wasn't cheap either... But I made it myself!"

Thank you for the advice Vektor. I'll keep that into considering. It truly is an interesting piece of saber history as you mentioned. Maybe I'll keep it that way, and hopefully someday the right 'unicorn' will cross my path. I'll make a decision once I have it in my hands. The pictures the seller provided looked like the blade was perfectly lit with no dark spots, but cameras can deceive.
I appreciate your 0.19(I don't know the shorcut for the euro lol)
I wanted a anakin AOTC hilt as well, but from what I saw, the Trid-version accurate, yet a bear to install, so I passed on getting one. I had an MR version as well, but it was major buzz-kill on the size of it, so I sold it off.
Maybe Vektor could be lured into a mini-run of them? I know I'd buy a skinny-kin to go with my skinny-flex.
Last time I saw one of these converted, the guy used a TCSS Mace Windu conversion kit, saying it was a near-prefect fit. Been meaning to pick one up and try the same thing myself.
For the rest of the electronics, 1" pipe always slides well into MR hilts for a homemade chassis, or you can try and design a 1.315" OD print. Anything for a vintage Graflex will be too big, but now I'm curious how a Graflex 2.0 chassis would fit...

Hey I just recently finished an AOTC conversation with the help of 7g_sabers on Instagram. We worked on this project for months and the finished parts are awesome. If you go on his shapeways shop, he's got everything you need for a full conversation! Also check my Instagram too @sj.bernhardt for the final specs and I'd be happy to help with any questions.
jaltrooper: Hey guys! Dumb question...but are there any t-shirts available, or any other swag I can buy to support the Page?

ARKM: We have challenge coins. Contact Luke Skywalker if you want one.

Luke Skywalker: We never did any swag. There's never enough interest to even break even. My sponsor coin run was a huge success and helped us pay the bills well into 2018 and even gave us the money to fund a couple of one time costs we incurred this year.

Luke Skywalker: As for shirts. I really need to get one for me as well. I've been wanting one with our new logo since we changed over. My desire has always been that this is a site for the members. I consider you all my friends and have no desire to make a profit from

ARKM: Luke Skywalker, hit me up if you want the image I used for the front of my shirt.

Luke Skywalker: Site. I never intend to charge selling fees. The coin drive was a much better way to go imho. As for our logo, name and copywriter and TM's go. I have no issue with anyone wanting to use them. I ask two things. Please let me know prior. If it's crude

Luke Skywalker: and vulgar and casts us in a bad light I simply won't approve it. The other thing I think would be nice is that if our name is used on things like t-shirts that you do make a small donation to help support the site.

Luke Skywalker: My recommendation, and the place I will definitely go when I want to have a shirt done is TRA member defcon. Al's work is outstanding. Al is the Solo's Hold of saber bags and other fabric items. I've had him make me a couple of shirts and several

Luke Skywalker: saber bags. His merchandise is perfection.

Luke Skywalker: I think I'm down to about 8 coins.

Luke Skywalker: ARKM what image did you use? Was it the one with SVD's glowing eyes? I'm really curious to see how our logo looks on a shirt. Defcon would certainly need to use the flattened simpler version. For a detailed logo I think you'd need it silk screened.
