So I finally got the install done on my Graflex 2.0 I have been working on. This saber was a scratch/dent kit from TCSS and was made actually to go with my Ancient weapon font. Essentially, this is a "what if" saber from an alternative ANH where Han is the force sensitive one and not Luke. So I built the saber and the font around the concept of what would happen if Han received a Graflex and then maintained it and "upgraded" it as he did to the falcon. The paint is modeled after the falcon and there is some age to the saber. As Han rewired the saber to improve it, he ended up overheating it and he cut some venting into the grip. It has the following:
Graflex 2.0 scratch/dent from TCSS Tri-Cree EXP-2 Red orange/Red orange/White (FoC) - the falcon's cannons are redish NBv 3 18650 3.7v battery from TCSS 28mm premium speaker from TCSS 3D printed chassis with illuminated (red 3mm led) crystal chamber (real quartz) Red TCSS graflex card Wanawanga ROTJ graflex lever (push to activate the saber) Two of my custom fonts: Ancient Weapon and Legendary Princess
Pics - they are not perfect, but I tried!
Thanks for looking!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. This is actually my second Graflex 2.0. The first one I built was a really frustrating process as I wanted it to be as accurate as possible to TFA. Needless to say, the build got really expensive really quick! This one was so much more fun to build as I wasn't limited to what was "cannon." Thanks everyone!
profezzorn: hey ARKM, did you ever write a that tutorial on the toner transfer method?

ARKM: *waves hand* "I'm not the slacker you're looking for"

ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.

ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."

ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.

profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
