How have I not left feedback here? Okay where to start...Purchased a 1" custom trans clear polycarb blade with a bullet tip for my Padawan back in April earlier this year. Still going strong. Lost the tip a few times but nothing some locktite won't fix. Last week I sent him a Vader's Vault blade to trim to 22" and sanded to fit the Padawan as well as purchase a new blade, 33" sanded trans clear with a bullet tip. Both blades came back perfectly wrapped and the new one came with a much needed dust cap. Fit perfect in both my Padawan and new Qui. Best blades I own along with the VV blades. 10/10
I purchased a Solo's Hold Asajj Ventress saber from, forum member Caille, that Obi-Shane installed. The shoutout here is for all the great support provided by Obi-Shane. The saber is a beauty, as pictures and video below will show. I think it's the longest battery life saber that I have ever owned.
Obi-Shane went above and beyond in every facet on a Solo's Hold Luke V2 he commissioned for me. You can definitely tell he took his time to do it right.
I wanted a V2 that was as screen-accurate as possible, and he delivered! Even several screen-accurate details that I was completely unaware of, he took the time to educate me on and added them for no additional cost. Most people these days are quick to do the minimum, collect a commission and go on to their next deal. I never got that vibe from Obi-Shane. He treated this build as if he were making it for himself, which is something I truly appreciate.
I am very new to the saber community, and this is my first lightsaber (minus the cheap plastic ones I had growing up), so I was a little uneasy about the process at first, but Obi-Shane made it an awesome and comfortable experience. His communication was great throughout the entire process, and I would be hard pressed to believe that any installer in the community pays as much attention to detail on their builds than Obi-Shane.
This saber is everything I hoped for and dreamt of owning since I first saw RotJ as a kid. I strongly recommend him to everyone in the community. I personally will not deal with anyone else for any future builds.
Shane took time out of his very busy schedule to build me a custom 7/8 blade for my SH Luke V2. Communication was excellent and transparent throughout the construction process.
I received the blade today and it fits very well. I appreciated the fact that Shane had the foresight to ensure that the blade would fit well enough by placing an extra strip of tape should it not be the case. Thanks for going the extra mile on what could have been regarded as a minor detail in the construction process.
Shane's blade is one of the best I've seen and owned. I would highly recommend his sabers to anyone who has not had the pleasure of owning one of his.
Couldn't be happier with Obi-Shane, and his work! The communication with him was beyond OUTSTANDING! Not only would he give me updates on my SH v2 build he was doing, he also took the time to answer some of the questions I had for other personal builds. In short 10/10!!!! HE...IS...THE...MAN!!!
Hey all! Just want to take a minute or three of your time to give a huge shout out to Obi-Shane for his superb artistic contribution to SH TFU2 hilt. Aaron's work is legendary and when you combine legendary fabrication with phenomenal technical artistry owed to Obi-Shane's work on my TFU2 hilt then something comes from this collaboration that can't be expressed in words. I'll try my best....because I'm not very good at photography or uploading pics to forums. lol I'll probably get around to uploading photos...
First...I'd be remiss if I didn't recognize that in my years of collecting saber hilts from all of the well known fabricators....Aaron is the only one I've come across that can deliver the type of flawless machined art in such record time and all the while remaining free with communication and highly accommodating with regard to payments and paperwork. You sir...are the present and future of this artistry and I am a collector for life. Thank you!
And on to further awesome accolades....Obi-Shane took on the commission to put together an installation of electronics and an open palette on how to make this hilt look even more fantastic than the raw version (which by the way looks great). He delivered and a whopping ton more!!! Paint work on exterior AND chassis is awesome! Polishing work is FLAWLESS! Installation of CF8 and CeX is awesome! SD Config and variation is awesome! Communication during the whole process was TOP SHELF! If the install isn't enough...I mentioned to Shane in a message that my birthday was coming up past 28th of June. Well....what did Shane do you ask? He decided to include some extra Star Wars cool stuff in the box with the hilt. ACES IN MY BOOK! I absolutely cannot recommend enough Obi-Shane!!!! 100 of 10 as far as I'm concerned. And the only installer I will ever hire for as long as he will accept the commissions. My hat is off to you sir!!! You delivered more than ever envisioned and these artists make me proud to be a Star Wars art collector!

Thought I'd give yet another great review for Obi-Shane. I received one of his blades for my TFU2 hilt today. 7/8 blade with bullet tip customized to fit perfectly. Nicely done! Definitely recommend his blades and hilt customization/install services. 10/10!!!

I should have done this a while ago, but I put it off and just never came back to it. Better late than never, I suppose.
A few months back, Shane took on the install of my Solo's Hold V2. With this being my first real install experience with a reputable sabersmith, I wasn't sure what to expect. Throughout the process, Shane was patient with all of my nagging questions and was very responsive in everything I wanted done for the install. I know I probably got on his nerves more than once through the process, but he remained level headed and calm the entire time (even though he probably shouldn't have been). In the end, what I got back from him was a flawless SH V2 done by one of the THE BEST in the business. Oh, and a pretty sweet 7/8" blade to go with it.
If you're looking for someone to install a saber for you or you're looking for an amazing 7/8" blade, look no further than Obi-Shane. He's a gentleman, scholar, and all-around great guy. I highly recommend him. I hope to work with him again sometime in the future on another install (or maybe a blade purchase ).
I'd like to leave 110% POSITIVE feedback for my boy Obi-Shane! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking on my Solo's Hold V2 build, and for doing such a damn good job with it! First of all, let me say that your communication was absolutely above and beyond - period. You always took the time to work with me on requests, you answered every question I threw at you in a timely manner, and you even took the time to give me most appreciated random tips here and there. Why? Simple...because you truly care about your clients needs, wants, ideas, and most importantly - the well being of the saber! The fit, finish, build and sound quality are all second to none, and the paint/weathering looks amazingly spot on! This saber is genuinely collector grade/museum quality, and you totally exceeded all of my expectations. As stated in one of our many conversations...owning this saber has been a childhood dream of mine and you made that dream come true. So thank you Mr. McGraw
If any of you are in need of a most excellent Sabersmith, please, DO NOT hesitate to hit Obi-Shane up. I promise you won't regret it!
I almost forgot!!! Obi-Shanes sanded, bullet tip blades kick MAJOR ARSE!
100/10 TWO THUMBS WAAAAAAAAAAY UP

Needed to chime in here and say some kind words about the work Obi-Shane did putting together my Solo's Hold v2.
We'd originally started chatting about a year ago, when I was first starting to dive into this hobby, and Shane was both a fantastic communicator and guide. I'd gotten most of the pieces for my build together and we had settled on an early configuration, but my collection grew rather rapidly while we were discussing the v2, and Shane reached out to suggest some tweaks to the set-up that he thought would better suit what I was interested in as a collector. He did this totally unsolicited, showing a level of care about his customers that I found pretty surprising. Not only that; he was right.
As the build progressed we had several chats over the phone, going down to the details of the type of paint I wanted on the hilt and chassis (or not). At every point in the process he was accessible and communicative, and made it very clear his goal was my goal: a v2 that was the most screen-accurate reproduction we could muster. (It didn't hurt that the entire NerfworX crew seems to have the same ethos, and props to everyone involved on this saber.)
Given that he makes trips out to my neck of the woods from time to time, he offered to drop the saber off in person when it was done. (I make that point because while I did end up doing a FB Live interview with Shane, he made the in-person offer long before the interview idea came about.) When we got together to do the hand-off I was blown away by the final product. The level of detail in the paint job; the care in the weathering; the pride that was so clearly taken in every step of the saber's wiring, assembly, and finishing was apparent. Did I mention the great stand from Vic at Darklyte Customs that Shane helped arrange? Or the classy-as-can-be bags from defcon4 that came with my order? Or did I mention that this sucker is BRIGHTER THAN BRIGHT? Because oh yeah, it is.
Long story short: I could not be more pleased with my experience working with Obi-Shane. When it comes time to get my Corran Horn "Maverick" installed, there's only one person I'm going to call. Thanks again, Shane.
After starting work on building my SH Luke V2, I kept hearing and reading about how great Obi-Shane's 7/8th's blades are for it. I'm so glad I reached out to Obi to make me 2 36" blades for it. They just came yesterday and look unbelievable. With the custom adapter he uses, it made the fit inside the emitter perfect! I couldn't be happier with them. Thanks again Obi-Shane! He made the transaction simple and quick. I know where to go if I need more blades.
Hey guys. Im sure that by now Solo Hold V2's are old news to most but I just wanted to post here to say how new and exciting it is to me in no small part due to Obi-Shane's fantastic build quality and customer service. Ive had one or 2 custom builds or special purchase go badly over the years so I am always apprehensive about diving into a new (and potentially expensive) endeavor. Shane made the process one of the smoothest and most comfortable ones Ive experienced in a long time and I thank him for that!
We all know what the SH V2 looks like by now and I see that there are more than enough posts here that highlight Shanes expert craftsmanship so I wont bore you with yet another but his attention to detail and willingness to listen and implement my suggestions was so great to experience.
Once while on vacation in a country that shall remain nameless (we extradite to there), I ran into Obi-Shane. We got to talking about Star Wars stuff and then went to check out the local establishments. Later, he went his own way. He told me all about what happened the next day when we met up for lunch. His mistake. Long story short, he gave me some blades in exchange for my silence. Dang good blades too. They look great and light up very nicely. Anywho, no one will ever know what happened... as long as Obi-Shane keeps supplying me with blades whenever I need them that is. Good guy that Obi-Shane.
I was so happy with my V2 blades from Obi-Shane that I ended up purchasing 2 regular 7/8th 36" blades and that came out just as good as my V2's. Very happy, these will go great with my Graflex. Good communication throughout. Thanks again Obi-Shane!
I recently received my first Sarlacc blade plug from Obi-Shane. It is a gorgeous blade plug. I tested it out in my DSE installed SH Corran Horn and it is great. Can't wait to receive my full NerfworX Lab Corran Horn, so I can display my paired Corran Horn sabers next to one another. The plug is so great that I immediately ordered another one for my upcoming SH TFU2 saber. 2 thumbs up from the Fonz.
ARKM: Sadly no. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish writing it but did not perform the steps and take pics of said steps.

ARKM: So it's like "Step 5: Using the high temperature temp, tape the paper with the design on it onto the metal part to be etched."

ARKM: ... but there's no Pic 4.

profezzorn: from other things I've read it's just PNP blue with some heat and pressure applied, right?
Jun 23, 2017 16:37:26 GMT -5
ARKM: Some use that. I could not get successful results with it but others have.
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:16 GMT -5
profezzorn: so what do you use?
Jun 23, 2017 16:47:36 GMT -5
ARKM: I personally use glossy magazine pages. I just rip a page out of a magazine and put it in the printer. The pages have to be the right thickness for the printer though. Too thin and they rip in the printer.
