Hey, folks. I was just looking at Saberz.com, and they have a blade they call the "starlight," with nice pictures of how evenly it diffuses blade light. But I'm always skeptical of manufacturer's website claims. So I'm curious -- how many of you have tried the starlight blade? Are the claims borne out?
As someone who does own a few blades, and two of those starlight blades, I could probably offer an opinion.
Yeah, I have a problem, don't ask. I took this photo after the enhanced blue VV blade came in the mail (mounted in the VV Flex to the right of the picture).
The blades with the colored elastics, and the one in between without, are Obi-Shane blades. If you go to the Obi-Shane blade with the green elastic at the bottom, then go left to right: the next one is a "quicksilver" blade that I got from defcon. And then the next two are the starlight blades.
They are the only trans-white blades that I own. They are trans-white with diffusion film inside, with a blade tip between round and bullet. I like them because they fit the padawans that Solo's Hold makes. Which means they are a smaller diameter, but they fit just right, they don't wobble. Which means in a normal saber... they might wobble a little, you might need a heavy duty retention screw. I have a second padawan by Wayne with an Igniter-2 in it on the way, I got a second blade so I would have one for each of those two sabers. They are 34", I believe. They only come in one length.
If you start on the left, and go to blades #3,4,5... those are habbena's sabers from IlluminatedSaber. They also have a tip that is between round and bullet and they also have the same diameter, so they fit my padawans very well. However, they are not trans-white, they are dual diffused.
Thanks; I have a problem, in that I like cyan blades, which makes getting enhanced daylight blades a tricky proposition. So I'm mostly looking at white blades, and theirs just caught my eye because they're doing something differently.
This is with that padawan I mentioned, just now, by Wayne with the Igniter-2 and an NEC cre RGB. All of these colors are standard blade colors for each of 4 fonts that come on the I2. First is Father/Son, second is Standard Issue, third is Dark Order, and the last is Darth Reven. The red blade flickers a little by design.
I did run a test of blades a while back, and this blade was actually the next brightest that I had after the photon blades. It handles blue especially well. I had this saber on blue, and a saber with the green photon (also blue blade), and a TCSS thin wall, a TCSS thick wall, and a VV. The VV was the next brightest after the photon and the Starlight. The TCSS were poor, the thick wall one was nearly non existent, why bother at that point.
I apologize, I no longer have the picture.
Again, consider the other things too. On a standard diameter 1" blade holder, this could be a little loose, so don't be shocked if that happens. On the padawan, it's like a glove.
I just received my first Starlight blade last week. I'll try to get some photos of it up in the next day or so.
In the short time I've had it, I'm very impressed. As jcru points out, they are a bit slimmer than others that I have and I may need to wrap mine with some packing tape for a tighter fit.
I'm a fan of transwhite blades so the Starlight naturally appeals to me. It's every bit as bright as my dual diffused Vader's Vault blade and my sanded US ones. More importantly, it offers the best tip blending I've seen yet. If you look, you can still see where the parabolic tip meets the blade tube, but when you're looking at the saber as a whole and aren't paying specific attention to that small spot, it blends fantastically well. From an appearance standpoint, it's easily my favorite blade to date.
jaltrooper: Hey guys! Dumb question...but are there any t-shirts available, or any other swag I can buy to support the Page?

ARKM: We have challenge coins. Contact Luke Skywalker if you want one.

Luke Skywalker: We never did any swag. There's never enough interest to even break even. My sponsor coin run was a huge success and helped us pay the bills well into 2018 and even gave us the money to fund a couple of one time costs we incurred this year.

Luke Skywalker: As for shirts. I really need to get one for me as well. I've been wanting one with our new logo since we changed over. My desire has always been that this is a site for the members. I consider you all my friends and have no desire to make a profit from

Luke Skywalker: Site. I never intend to charge selling fees. The coin drive was a much better way to go imho. As for our logo, name and copywriter and TM's go. I have no issue with anyone wanting to use them. I ask two things. Please let me know prior. If it's crude

Luke Skywalker: My recommendation, and the place I will definitely go when I want to have a shirt done is TRA member defcon. Al's work is outstanding. Al is the Solo's Hold of saber bags and other fabric items. I've had him make me a couple of shirts and several

Luke Skywalker: ARKM what image did you use? Was it the one with SVD's glowing eyes? I'm really curious to see how our logo looks on a shirt. Defcon would certainly need to use the flattened simpler version. For a detailed logo I think you'd need it silk screened.
