What is the red button solution? People have been converting Graflex for a long time with no issues. I never saw a problem with the red button. I'm curious how you can improve on it. Knowing SH, I'm sure you can.

Soldering batteries is easy if you have a good iron, scuff the battery terminals, use some flux and quickly hit the battery poles. Don't overheat them. My first attempt went perfect.
My only gripe with all of these chassis is the fact the batteries can't be removed easily. That makes these sabers run time very short with 1 18650. There's no way to troop with one of these sabers since you can't do a battery swap. Biggest fail ever with these chassis. Will I be using them in the future? That's a big yes because they look awesome and are easy to work with and are the best chassis out there. Will I be frustrated trooping the cancer ward when my Saber goes out and the kids look at me like..."what kind of lame Jedi do we have here?" Ahhhh yes.

Scarecrow is your man. He's worked with this chassis before. I really like Martin's work and design more than the Roy chassis. But in the end after researching the two I've decided to go with the Roy chassis. As much as I prefer the MB look I really want all metal and less finish work. I want a more plug and play chassis. Plus I want the gold plated parts. As much as I can afford.
MB makes note on his shapeways listing which parts have looser tolerances and which ones should or should not be printed in metal.
In the end, they're both awesome chassis that give us many more options than we used to have. It boils down to preference and amount of work that you're willing to put in to our a chassis.

Details. Details. Don't keep us in suspense. Where'd you find one? What was the damage? I'd like to live out my vintage kobold fantasies through you. I'd love to put a kobold on my vintage Graflex some day.

Books are just stories anyway. They aren't real like the movies. 😄
I did enjoy the Timothy Zahn series but that's where it ended for me. Typically I hate reboots and changed canon. As poor a decision it was to kill off such a cool villain so soon, to me Boba Fett died in the sarlac. Same with Maul. Giving him a robotic lower half just cheapens the story. It makes it no different than a soap. No one ever dies when you can just write them back in. It ruins the drama.
I might be missing something here, but you need administrative approval to post runs here.
And have to at least be around for more then 10 minutes on your profile.
Just saying, most of us spent several years working on it before we were ever even considered for armory status...
Correct me if I am wrong...
Those ARE all correct points based on our rules. In an effort to not place too many burdens on sellers and our members and because we want our members to be aware of all areas in the hobby, we do allow for offsite advertising provided that privilege is not abused. All off site runs will not be endorsed or vetted by the TRA.

The solos hold is super accurate. But unless you look close and stare at it the TGS BH will look nice. The TGS BH was the top of the line until some perfectionist (read solos hold) came along and ruined it for us.

I don't have a good answer for you. I've been holding off hoping I'd have an update.
I flew out there, rented a car, drove within 20 mins of his house, was in touch with his mom the morning of and then nothing. I never got a response when I asked about a meetup time. More than a week has passed and his mom has not responded to me at all nor has she posted on FB. I'm at a loss. I was holding off hoping to get a reply.
I'm at a loss. She seemed very excited about what we were doing. At this point I'm going to ship out the "yearbook" I made up for him with the more than 80 letters/notes of encouragement. I'll toss in one of our coins for him. For now I think I'm going to hold off on his saber. I can't justify blindly sending a $500-600 saber when I don't know what's happening on the other end. There were several members that made donations not to mention Wade's time to build it. I feel like I need to be a good steward of what was given and created. I think there's a certain responsibility to use the Saber in a way it was intended. Worst case, we hold onto the Saber for a few months and donate it to another child we come across.

Nice review. Don't listen to the advice though. "Put a dab of locktight on the bunny ears screw." Do this and you'll never get it out again if you need to. There's no head on the screw to use a screwdriver. There will be no way to grip it enough to get it off if you use locktight.
I may have missed it. DO THE EARS BEND like the Roman's and the Graflex 2.0?

For now I'd like to ask everyone to please edit their own posts. Remove your dead signs and other dead links. At some point the mods will start doing it. As bad as things are now, I think we can at least clean up the forum by getting rid of the dreaded PB update your third party hosting sign.

I did some research today. Proboards over a year ago alerted site owners that the rules had changed for imgur and third party hosting.
I'm looking at options and hope to have a long term solution in the coming weeks. Or at least some options for us all to discuss. If anyone has any ideas please speak up.
I personally feel that third party hosting is dying. Places like PB just don't get the ad revenue they want. Plus I think ad revenue for many sites is changing. I think the businesses that spend money on ads are realizing that no one is looking st their ads and it's not a reliable cost venture to boost their business visibility and revenue. Mark zuckerberg even mentioned smelting along those lines a year or so ago and that ad revenue for FB could be changing.

I know everyone is having a hard time posting pics now that Photobucket abandoned us.
Until we have a new option for image hosting I'm going to temporarily suspend the rule to require pics of items in sales threads. This does not give a free pass on due diligence of buyers and sellers. It's my recommendation that parties seriously interested in an item in the Armory, ask the seller to email them pics. It's also highly suggested that sellers do their best to find a way to post pics. This is not just a free pass. As a site we've always tried to find the middle of the road in regards to our rules and also meeting the needs of our members.
I haven't found a solid solution yet to hosting images. One option would be to link to our personal FB that would then have the pics.
Until we find a solution we will continue to be lenient on our sales rules requiring pics.
